We've been busy bees in the studio lately, and can now say with a fair amount of certainty that recordings will be done by the end of the month.We haven't decided on a release date yet, but hopefully we'll be able to share that with you before too long. Think late summer!

ANIMAGICA is a one-off special event on December 17th 2009!We're happy to get the opportunity to play our soundtracks to pioneering German filmmaker Lotte Reiniger's beautiful animations of the timeless fairy tales SLEEPING BEAUTY and CINDERELLA again. This time in the gorgeous surroundings of Shoreditch Church.
We hear there will be mulled wine and mince pies as well :)

Day at the studio!

Our day at the studio went well, 2 more songs added to the album :)We're hoping to be able to finish recording in the next 2-3 months, and have a finished album early next year.
But next up is the Branchage International Film Festival! We're flying to Jersey on Thursday, performing 3 short shows on Friday.
Again we'd like to bring your attention to Lotte Reiniger (1899-1981). Her silhouette animation flims, which we're making music for, are so beautiful!

Autumn has definitely arrived in Reykjavík!! It's been pouring down rain lately!Just about two weeks now until our performance at the Branchage Film Fest! We do love those animations by Lotte Reiniger we're making music to, they're truly amazing.
Also coming up is recording a couple of new songs for our upcoming album with Maggi and Kippi. The album progress is coming along slowly, but surely :)
Aaand, just to let you know, there are still a few copies of the Re Minore EP left in our webstore. We're not printing more copies, so be sure to get one soon, if you want a copy :)

Since we last wrote here, we've been to Ireland to play the Kilkenny Arts Festival. We played in a beautiful old cathedral, which was great!Next up is recording some new material with Maggi and Kippi. We've just moved to a new studio and are really looking forward to making more music there.
In October we're going to Jersey to perform at the Branchage international film festival

We came back yesterday from a great tour of the north and east of Iceland where we played some lighthouses, and other lovely places.So nice to finally get the opportunity to play for people outside Reykjavík!

On July 24th - 27th we will travel to the north and east of Iceland to play a few songs in lighthouses, an old blue church and a whale-museum.With the support of Kraumur Music Fund the is no entrance fee to the concerts!

We will upload one song from the new Re Minore EP on the web later today!The EP was recorded in the Sundlaugin studio and some other places around Reykjavík this spring and is being manufactured right now here in Iceland in 500 numbered copies.
All music was composed and performed by amiina, Kippi Kaninus and Magnús Trygvason Eliassen, except bass on track 1 and 3 by Kjartan Sveinsson.
It will be available in a few shops in Iceland, on our Italy tour, and hopefully before too long on the web. More details on that soon : )
Venue change!

Hey everyone!So, there's been a change of one of the venues on our tour around Italy. Instead of playing Bergamo, we'll play Milan. This is due to some technical problems that couldn't be resolved at the Bergamo venue.
But...... we can't tell you the venue, cause it's a SECRET show, a part of the "house concert special event" series. The only thing we can tell you is that it is in Milan.

Tomorrow we're finally going to the studio to mix the songs we've been working on with Kippi and Maggi! It's going to be an EP, between 15 and 20 min of music.Our plan is to manufacture just a few copies over the next two weeks, put a few in shops in Iceland, save a few for our (non-existent, but hopefully soon-to-be) webshop and take the rest with us to Italy!

Latest amiina news:amiina is collaborating on some brand new, super exciting material with the amazing Kippi Kaninus and Magnús Trygvason Eliassen. A limited edition release is scheduled in June. Great spring fun there!
We are also on our way to London in May, playing a collab show with Valgeir Sigurðsson and Shlomo in the Music Through Unconventional Means - Southbank Centre series. The show will take place on May 15th.
On May 23rd we'll play a small show at Reykjavik Arts Festival's Living Room Concerts. Only 50 tix for sale, so better hurry if you want to come!
"25 Living Room Concerts in 25 homes during the festival weekend of May 22-24. The concerts are held all over Reykjavík, spanning every zip code from 101 to 111."
In June we plan to go to Italy and play a few shows, more on that soon!
In July we'll travel in Iceland and play a few shows in some amazing places. More on that soon too!
In August (on the 9th) we'll play a show at the Kilkenny Arts Festival. We're looking forward to that!

We have a little cover track on an album called Nightmare Revisited, that has just been released by Disney.It's a 20 track cover album that features unique and new recordings of the eccentric cult classic The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack by a very diverse group of artists across different music genres. So we're there in the company of Korn, Marilyn Manson, The Album Leaf and others! The bit we covered is "Doctor Finkelstein/In The Forest"

We spent the summer touring with our friends in Sigur Rós and The Horny Brasstards around Europe and a few shows in Mexico and the USA. The photo (taken by Eva Vermandel) was taken on tour, we're wearing our gorgeous show-dresses made by the lovely sisters in Aftur.
We had a great time, but are now glad to back in Iceland and in amiinaworld! Got some projects coming up this autumn, and hoping to make lots of new music. We'll keep you posted here!

We gals have been really busy with lots of exciting work lately.We're composing a couple of film scores for a couple of great films, due to be released late this year or early next year. Having plenty of fun with that.
The art festival show collab with Kippi Kaninus is coming along nicely, a month to go now. We're rethinking some of our old material as well as working on some brand new things. If you happen to be in Iceland on the 15th or 16th of May, come and check it out!
Our plans for the summer have been settled now. We have decided to join our good friends in Sigur Rós on their tours around the world in June, July and August, playing strings and possibly some other bits in their set. Fun times ahead :)

Wow, we had our instruments and gear shipped this time, instead of carrying them on the plane and having airport people tell us we're crazy and it's not allowed to bring huge flightcases like that on passenger planes... what a huge difference!! We'll definitely do this again :)The shows were both good, we had lots of fun :) thanks to all of you who came! And the bus rides (in our 18 bunk bus...) were excellent!

And we have some very pretty limited edition hand-made prints, some tea towels, shirts... and of course MUSIC!
In other news we'd like to remind you about the track we recently released in collaboration with the late great Lee Hazlewood. It is now downloadable from i-Tunes.
The 7" version with the extra track will be a little bit delayed, sorry... But we'll get it out there as soon as we can in the new year.

hmmmm...been a while

and we have absolutely no excuse for not having written for 2 MONTHS now. Well, actually we did have a hard time getting online during our tour, but after that we definitely don't have an excuse!Anyways, the tour was great, we had such an amazing time. Thanks to all of you lovely people who came to see us. It never ceases to amaze us how brilliant our audiences are, always a pleasure to play for you guys!
And having Maggi (our drummer) with us was excellent, we hope you all enjoyed his presence and contribution to the show as much as we did.
We had a video made to Hilli (At the Top of the World), while we were touring. You can see it here. It was made by Nick Abraham, and is dedicated to the memory of Lee Hazlewood. This song was the last recording Lee did, and we girls feel incredibly honored to have been his last collaborators.
We're working on getting the track released, which should be soon. It's going to be on a 7" also, with an additional track on the B-side. We'll let you know as soon as it's settled!
These days we're taking a bit of a break, renewing our energies before beginning to work on new music.

We're having an early packing, everything going into the flightcases now ready to fly with us on Monday morning! We've been having a great time rehearsing with our guest player, so we're all really looking forward to playing lots of shows.When everything's packed we'll put on our high heels and pretty dresses and go to the premiere of a film called Heima, a documentation of last year's tour around Iceland with Sigur Rós.
Gonna be a bit strange to see our giant selves on the big screen...

We are very sorry to inform you that due to illness within the band, we have had to postpone our North American tour schedule to start in Washington DC next week.We obviously didn't want this to happen and are very disappointed, but we will soon be over, before you know it!

However, we do have some cool things coming up, including a long tour in Europe in October. You'll hear about the other stuff from here and our myspace first, so keep visiting us!

Monday next week we'll be on our way to the USA. Things sort of getting ready, but there are still a few matters to tend to. We've, for example, decided to make more use of our amazing and great sound guy, Finnur, during shows. But we're yet to see how that works out!And we've just finished work on a very special track. It's still a bit of a secret, but if everything goes as we hope we'll be able to announce that right here before too long!

Yes, we are touring Europe in October. However, it's been a bit of a puzzle making it all work out, cause in the middle of it all we need to make a short visit to Iceland. But we'll post the dates before long. We can tell you with a fair amount of certainty that the tour involves Portugal, Germany, UK, Denmark and some more countries!
